Sr. Manager, Development & Manufacturing Coordination for PLG

REPORTS TO: Director of Development & Manufacturing Coordination Vietnam & Indonesia

Fundamental Purpose of this position

To support the Director of Development & Manufacturing Coordination Vietnam & Indonesia on a day to day operation for CBI PLG Sourcing Organization in Indonesia / Vietnam. This role is accountable for ensuring effective Product Development, Product Commercialization in timely manner from concept stage through proto, sales sample and product confirmation, the manufacturing process audit and product audit thru final inspection of the product.


Core Competencies
Expert in technical footwear commercialization process. Broad skills, experience and knowledge of materials, components, construction, patterns, outsole and last from design to manufacturing.
In depth knowledge and experience on manufacturing process (process audit and product audit)
In depth knowledge of production planning, factory loading and capacity
In depth knowledge of Lean Six Sigma / IE.
Fully understands footwear fit/comfort standards in order to oversee the fit and wear test process, cooperate with the development team.
Good communication skill and comfortable in communicating technical ideas and concepts in a way that can be understood by others.
Understand costing in order to ensure they are achievable within the set cost parameters.

Technical Competencies :

Experience in manufacturing quality management (QA/QC) in order to set product standards.
Experience in covering all type of shoes constructions
Knowledge of technical footwear development from prototype to full sizes and die test.
Knowledge of materials, fit, outsole, paper pattern and last development.


To coordinate and follow thru and where possible attend all PPT’s and document issues relating to our partners ability to manufacture these product.
To manage the manufacturing process (quality assurance and quality control) on daily base to ensure production matches the confirmation sample only good shoes are being shipped out.
To work with and part of the development and commercialization team to assist in any manufacturing issues related to PLG brands.
To support the Director, Development & Manufacturing Coordination in providing leadership, training, coaching and educating to the local team.
To support the corporate initiative for Continuous Improvement Team concerning the implementation and running of Lean Manufacturing.
Manage the development and commercialization team to ensure timely delivery of protos and sales samples in accordance with the product creation calendar.
Effectively coach and develop talent within the PLG Indo (QA/QC/PD) team, ensuring that there is strong talent bench for future positions and that current talent is fully proficient in their roles.
Cooperate with the Production Planning team to ensure the information flow is accurate and up to date.
Adhere to the production intro calendar to hit all product calendar milestone dates, with a focus on adding value to the development team by reviewing product before Stage 1 handoffs. Potential issues should be reviewed and promptly act collaboratively with the factory management team,
Identify and provide problem shooting at the earliest stage of potential mass production quality issues to the attention of Corporate.
Manage the manufacturing process and ensure the best practices at all production stations..
Develop the team to have a broad base of knowledge in Development, Commercialization
Ensure written specification accuracy and that parts comply with the agreed upon specifications.
Set up, update and deploy the commercialization manual to achieve technical product consistency.


Minimum 10 years of work experience in sourcing, commercialization, and/or footwear manufacturing.
Self starter with an ability to work alone and also as part of a wider team and strategy
Must be disciplined in their daily approaches and with an ability to multi-task
Good understanding of manufacturing process/shoe making procedures, quality assurance best practices.
Good Understanding of Product Development and cost related savings potential by adjusting patterns.
Open mindedness to learning and looking at factories with “new eyes”.
Must be willing to work as part of a cross functional environment with a ‘get in’ attitude
Excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to think clearly with regards to Line Balancing and factory balancing/line flow to support CIT.
Attention to details and analytical skill.
High Integrity, motivated with strong creative, organizational and planning skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Good command of English language.
Proficient computer skill.
